Dr Keith Pritchard

Keith is a graduate of the University of Wales having studied Biological Sciences for four years. He gained his Doctorate from the University of Southampton and has worked with young people and adults over many years. His interest in Alternative Medicine began with an investigation of chiropractics and this led on to a wider appreciation of the benefits of introducing the ‘feel good’ factor into the lives of his clients.

Keith recognises the value of holistic approaches and thus concentrates his work on beauty treatments, massage of various kinds, reflex therapy (as distinct from reflexology), injury/wear and tear treatment and counselling. His qualifications include three degrees from UK universities, ITEC Holistic Massage, Counselling (Relate) and Sports injury through BSY.

Keith undertakes various complementary therapies including Beauty Treatment, Massage and Relaxation : (can include counselling if required), Sports injury and pain : related to body wear and tear.

QRT quality reflex therapy

Reflex therapy is based on the theory that our body is maintained in dynamic equilibrium. Daily, our activities of work and play are likely to upset that equilibrium. Usually this is short-lived and the body’s own defences come into play to restore the balance.

From time to time the forces of our natural lives overwhelm our ability to respond fast enough and we suffer the symptoms of tiredness, stress, discomfort and pain.

Reflex Therapy adds to the normal body balancing process, a relaxing massage providing almost instantaneous results which build in strength in the following few hours.

What is reflex therapy?
Reflex therapy is based on the theory that our body is maintained in dynamic equilibrium whilst in good health. Daily, our activities of work and play are likely to upset that equilibrium. Usually this is short lived and the body’s own defences come into play and restore the equilibrium. The younger you are, the easier and quicker this happens.

From time to time the forces of our natural lives overwhelm our ability to respond fast enough and we suffer the symptoms of tiredness, stress, discomfort and pain. Reflex Therapy functions by giving extra stimulus to the proprioceptors which lie within our tissues. These send additional messages to our brain to help restore equilibrium more rapidly.

The treatment adds to the normal body balancing processes so is completely safe. It does not depend on chemicals or the application of anything except touch and pressure. The recipient is unaware of the technical processes involved but simply enjoys a relaxing massage. The results are almost instantaneous and build in strength in the following hours. You will feel relaxed and ready to face the challenges of another day.

Massage
Massage is an ancient activity but modern approaches are largely based on the research of Per Henrik Ling from Sweden. It promotes a sense of calm and serenity which all ages can enjoy. It can be soothing and effective in reducing stress related anxiety. It stimulates many of the body systems resulting in improved digestion, circulation, waste removal, neural functioning and muscle tone. It is a safe non-threatening, non-invasive and natural therapy.

When combined with Reflex Therapy, it can give dramatic improvements in the general feeling of wellbeing. Both men and women respond well to being given quality time to relax and enjoy a therapeutic massage. For most, massage is a leisure activity which adds to their quality of life. Various combinations are available to suit individual needs.

For those requiring extensive support at difficult times in their lives, massage can be combined with a counselling service. Please telephone for details.

Injury/Pain/Wear and Tear/Lifestyle
An emphasis on exercise for leisure and health has encouraged us all to visit the gymnasium, climb the stairs, jog for the bus or take a brisk walk before breakfast! Our own enthusiasm leads us often into vigorous exercise for which we are little prepared. As we get older even the everyday activities can extend our normal range of movements and exercise. It is hardly surprising therefore that more and more people search for a therapist who can assist their recovery after injury.

This is not a replacement for appropriate medical advice but it is an additional intervention to speed up the process of healing. The application of massage to muscles, tendons and ligaments, after diagnosis, has proven to reduce pain and reduce recovery time. Advice and treatment using warm up activities for individual muscles and strengthening exercises militate against further injury. Early treatment is the key to a fast recovery but in almost all cases at least two days of rest should precede any treatment.

The therapist is appropriately trained by BSY (SportsInj)

An emphasis on holistic approaches to health underpin all the treatments available. Whether you wish just to pamper yourself and enjoy a luxurious hedonistic few hours of self indulgence or whether you need treatment to alleviate stress, pain or injury, there is an appropriate service for you.

The surroundings are scrupulously clean and hygienic and you will be assured of personalised attention and help. Call without obligation if you have any concerns or if you have any questions you would like to ask. If you feel happier being treated in your own home this can be arranged.

Future Goals
keith’s future goals include continuing with his Professional Development by adding further qualifications in the continuing search for effective additions to the services currently provided. These will include Indian Head Massage and Reflexology in 2008.
